Hop, Skip and Sing - Music Education for All

After School

My KS1 after school music club is not currently running but please contact me if you are interested in after school music classes for your child as I am in the process of looking at starting up a new class.

This is a session where your child will express themselves through singing and movement. The children learn games, rhymes and songs and have the opportunity to play instruments as well as learning how to read rhythm and pitch notation.

A quote from one of our regular mums....

My daughter absolutely loves being part of Eliza's KS1 class. Isabelle is now learning to read music, both rhythm and pitch, without even realising it because of Eliza's natural ability to engage and enthuse. It is a delight to witness the children happily singing, dancing and moving to the piano and djembe with thought and creativity. Thank you for your commitment Eliza!

The curriculum is based on the tried and tested 'Kodàly' method. Kodàly believed that all musicianship training should start with the voice as it is our first instrument.

All musical concepts can be understood first through singing and rhythm games and once these skills are developed then beginning a musical instrument is a much easier process. We will spend a lot of time singing and moving using singing games, clapping rhythms and internalising musical concepts before making them conscious when the children will learn to read rhythm and pitch notation.

Once the children have developed a strong sense of pulse we will be introducing them to high quality beautiful instruments.

Once your child has outgrown the Hop, Skip and Sing music classes there will be opportunities to learn an instrument on a one to one or group basis.
